ANIME FEST ASIA 08

it was pretty cool. after going for the toys and comic's convention, i was looking forward to conventions. as expected there were quite a number of cosplayers. since it was a sunday. i invited youth friends for the outing! i rarely go out with them anyway

our team consisted of: tim tan, jonathan, minqhee and i.

left after youth, and some administrative stuff. it was quite a lax day, since all we did was crack our brains in are you smarter than a fifth grader:tmc revised addition. i dont think any fifth grader would noe when maddonna married...whoever she was married to.... but it was fun while it lasted.

headed down to tp for a mrt. had lunch there. Mos burger was the joint of choice, since mac's was overkill for me, and BK..... well? whats the problem with BK? i dunno. but we went to mos burger anyway. i only remember eating it when my age was still a single digit. so it was breath of fresh air. sort of. the beef was awesomestest! mos burger just won me over. so, ronald macdonald wont be expecting much patronisation from me soon. is that how u use patronisation?

anyway. jonathan and i ate our human meals, while tim ate a lion's share. while mq ate a rabbit's share. no carrots though, just strawberries, and some weird nuggetty thingy. tim was still hungry after a mos meal, and a rice burger thingy. talk about food for thought, literally. haha.am trying to string in a different perspective of a phrase. failed miserably

so after lunch, we headed to the subway. no, not for a second bite. the mrt station ,i mean.

ohhh.enlightenment....

blah blah blah, we reached. the admission fee was a fiver. we went in, just in time for the cosplay mania! met up with alvin first. he was hanging around, and blew his advance birthday gift on riduculously priced clothing. we waited for cosplay mania to start......130, said the catalougue. anytime now, anytime. somehow, they had difficulty with setting up everything, so we ended up waiting for 40mins! or more..... well, the competition was well........ unpredictable. no characters i knew well, two teams performing from each the animes, code gauess, and hitman reborn....so there was a repeat of characters. the most unexpected part. was ULTRAMAN> yes. this is not a typo. i wasnt planning on typing anything else. ULTRAMAN! lol. for the prep, they started placing miniautre-buildings made of wood on the stage, and the show began.

the monster appeared first. a yeti like thing, with a mutilated face. and then ultraman flew in, wrestled a bit, and won, obviously. lol. it was sickly entertaining, since no one thought such stuff could be entered in a cospleay competition.

the others, werent as good, one team, who did kingdom hearts skit, even attempted a high school musical, singing songs from disney movies, so as to appear patriotic to the disney team, since they created kingdom hearts. besides the poor timing, and off key singing, they were ok..... not being mean here. just really moody, since it was like the fifth performance, and we waited really long standing up, and im not a yaoming, and im straining my neck to see everything, and the claustrophobic atmosphere mixed with BO fluctuating from all sides.... lets just say, i realised why they gave us paper fans. they should have given air fresheners too....

when it came to the second last act, we gave up, and decided to takke a walk around the stores. sad to say, it wasnt as good as the toy and comics convention for a couple of reasons

1 there was an admission fee

2 no freebies! argh!

upsides

1. got to see award winning gundam models. DIY! they were painted so perfectly by the people that built them, even better than the machine constructed ones!

2. cosplayers were more prominent

3. lesser people, since there was admission fee.

well, we left eariler than expected, since it wasnt really much to do... we planned to go home at first, so al returned to the convention. then we decided to go for an ice cream or something. tim, being the most awesomestest guy in terms of generousity, decided to treat us to drinks, using his bday cash! awwww. we felt bad. so he should be expecting a good christmas present from me.haha

thus, we drank our drinks, and chatted about loads of stuff. u could call it fellowship. we never get to bond much anyway, since after youth, everyone has their own agenda, be it rushing home, staying for service, or soccer, stuff like that.
