What have we bred daily?

It was an ordinary thursday, was dragging my bag and books with me as i trudged home. was walking along this concrete path when i looked to the ground for a moment and saw a white rectangle

looking closer, i made out some words. it was an open booklet. on it were the words the daily bread.oh.... it was a backcopy of a devotional. should i pick it up?

i hesitated for a moment. there were a few basketballers jogging past, and some neighbourhood people whiling their usual lives. better not, i thought to myself.

a few metres later, i felt the urge to retrace my steps. i eventually did and picked it up home

there are many ways u may speculate me after this short account

1.im yau gui ( miserly) thus i picked up the devo

2. i m a hobo

none of these are really important right now.

rather, i thought about this book on the way home, and i realise that our lives, revolve around this book

let me elaborate

the people are like me, walking along that road

the road is our lives, leading us, to wherever we are planning to go

the book is God's word

Almost everyone, especially , us, the fortunate singaporeans are introduced to God at least once

its placed on the floor, spread open

you walk pass it.

some people look at it, but they feel they have everything they need, so they walk past it

others contemplate on picking it up, but hesitate, because of the burdens of life that need their attention more than whatever seems to be important on the floor

some walk pass it, but eventually pick it up

upon picking it up, a person may suddenly misplace it, due to the things in life that overshadow the word. if u can see the photo, this devotional was scribbled on with phone numbers and bank account digits. these represent the things in life he puts befre, or on the lord

a person may think that the things in life like work, and politics should come b4 god, and thus, he lets God go, drops him on the tarmac road like that.

but what he doesnt realise, is that if u let go of god, u might let go of your foundation of strength. and just like that, this person lost important contacts that came with the word.

people who dont pick up the word may have feelings inclined to the fact that, i only need god when i need him

or ive seen these reach out programmes too much to fully believe in it, what a stunt

well, they might be missing out of the point that death is unpredictable,im not inclining the fact that god is a one way ticket to eternal life. rather, how many chances are u going to be given and not take that up

this devotional was a back copy. it signifies a christian living in god's word and thinking, well this is the usual stuff, i go to church, i pray, i go home. he lives in the past. stagnant, never contemplating ministering to the church in anyway. this isnt a bad think, for i shall not judge, rather is it a good thing?

i almost lost a chance to give this testimony by walking pass god's plan, what have u done to lose your chance

for the non christians, have u missed a chance to find a true friend in god, just because u dont thin he's real or worth your time

for the christians, have we become too absorbed in our church, that we cant open up to anyone, or tell the world of our word, or even ashamed of the word that we hold everyday. or have we become stagnant christians because of the other things the world has to offer, and we place them before god. have we become judgmental to the non-believers or even our own that we choose to not fufill the greatest commandment god laid for us

have we bred these in our daily lives?
